We all love our Chihuahuas, and protecting them should be our number one priority as owners. This is why it is important for all Chihuahua owners, and future owners, to know what foods they shouldn't eat. Taking the time to learn what foods are OK and which ones could be dangerous, could save you a lot of heartache in the future.

If you've ever taken your Chihuahua to the Veterinarian before, they've probably told you not to feed your dog table foods. While some foods may be OK for them to eat, there are still many foods and ingredients that can be dangerous or even fatal to your Chihuahua. To be on the safe side, it is best to listen to your Veterinarian and avoid feeding your Chihuahua table foods at all. Stick with feeding them a premium dog food made for your dogs size.

Not feeding your Chihuahua table scraps might sound like a pretty easy task, but remember Chihuahuas are sneaky and will often grab your food when you least expect it. Try to throw away any leftovers immediately after you've eaten to help avoid this.

Ever heard the old saying that chocolate can kills dogs? Well, some chocolate can be very dangerous to dogs, causing seizures, coma, and even death. You should always keep your chocolate stored in area that they would never be able access.

You might be thinking that bones are safe for Chihuahuas, but this is not the case. Bones, no matter what kind, have been known to splinter and deal internal damage once they are inside a dogs body. In short, never give your Chihuahua a real bone!

Similar to a bone, sticks can also damage a dogs internal organs from splintering. While it might be difficult to avoid your Chihuahua from picking up sticks outside, you can still keep them from chewing on it. If you see them chewing on a stick, simply yell "NO!". They should get the picture after a couple of times.

As unusual as this sounds, raisins have been known to be extremely dangerous for dogs. Even in small amounts, they can cause kidney failure. So, be sure you never drop any raisins around your Chihuahua.

Too much salt can also cause kidney problems in a dog. While it may take much more for a larger breed, it doesn't take nearly as much for a tiny Chihuahua.

Many fruits and vegetables are dangerous for dogs to consume. They can cause liver damage, breathing problems, heart problems, and more. Grapes, onions, tomatoes, avocados, and apples should all be avoided.

It might seem like there are a lot of dangerous foods to try and keep away from your Chihuahua. However, keeping your food away from them, and being sure you are only feeding them dog food can help your Chihuahua stay safe and healthy.
